In his late canvases he dissolved forms completely in coloured mists. Unlike other Impressionists, he never chafed against formlessness or tried to revive architectural elements in his compositions. In this canvas3„4Monet3„4is primarily interested in rendering the effects of light on form and impregnating the surrounding atmosphere with colour.
